WharfWood's quest for the highest quality reclaimed old-growth redwood has led to several reclaimed wood acquisitions. As our name suggests, most of our current inventory comes from the deconstruction of the Pacific Lumber Company's wharf at Field's Landing on Humboldt Bay in Northern California.

Field's Landing Wharf

The Pacific Lumber Company built the Field's Landing wharf from outstanding clear structural timbers during the heyday of ancient redwood logging in Humboldt County. The wharf accommodated lumber ships carrying Pacific Lumber's redwood to seaports around the world.

After a shift away from rail and sea transport in favor of trucking, the wharf was abandoned and began to deteriorate. Ultimately, it deteriorated beyond repair and was slated for removal.

WharfWood worked closely with the demolition crew to minimize damage to the timbers from the deconstruction. The dismantled wharf now rests in WharfWood's lumberyard, across Humboldt Bay from the original wharf.
